What do we have lined up for Scotland’s National Airshow 2015 and what can you all look forward to?

We have a truly spectacular line-up this year. I’m especially pleased with the UK military participants; we have the RAF Typhoon demonstration, the full Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) team (Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster), the Tutor display and the first showing of the Hawk T2 role demo team.  This is a new, dynamic display flown by two of the RAF’s newest training aircraft, the Hawk T2, which although looking very like the old Hawk T1 (as flown by the Red Arrows) is actually a completely new aircraft.  And of course we have the RAF Red Arrows.

From the Royal Navy, not only do we have our usual visitors, the HMS Gannet Sea King, we also have the Black Cats, performing a helicopter display with two Lynx anti-submarine helicopters and the return of the Royal Navy Historic Flight Swordfish biplane torpedo bomber. We already have a very exciting and varied display in place and I will discuss the remaining display line-up in my next blog post.

I have already met with the delightful people at Edinburgh Airport, who, once again, are proving to be real supporters of Scotland’s National Airshow – they certainly make my job substantially easier as I get to the final planning phase of the show.

As some of you might be aware, the BBMF Lancaster suffered an engine fire recently. As yet we don’t know how this will affect its airshow programme however the BBMF engineering team are working to try to return the aircraft to the display circuit as soon as they can.

I think that’s all for now.  I shall blog again in a few week’s time, hopefully with an exciting update to the display line-up.
